Facing Frustrations
It’s this thought,
that as much as I try
to make my own experiences
create my own network
and find contentment in the unknowns,
it’s been there for you.
You grew up with all the comfort:
a consistent education system,
a father and mother
who continues to cocoon you
as you were when you were born,
a home in the city
with views of skyscrapers
and a haven
compared to the city I find across.
It’s the way your life is set,
and if it’s not,
you got a seat
that takes you to the next step,
while I have to keep searching.
A stream coursing through a path
where it can be so cold
or run so fast.
I search for warmth on my own,
learn to take on what enriches me
and keep flowing to the calm.
I want to say I appreciate my hardships,
that they make me more
“independent”
“resilient”
but damn,
it really must be so nice
to be born
never having to advocate for yourself.
